There are proposals & then there are PROPOSALS.

So lads… no pressure but one way to be sure to get a YES… is to follow in the great footsteps of a lad named Eric…

So a lad (named Eric) sets up some friends at different spots all around Brisbane Town, they wait with clues to give to a girl (named Nicola) to help her get from one secret spot to the next.

The final destination. Under this big old tree. And who should be waiting there with a picnic & a RING… a lad named Eric of course.

Like I said no pressure.

And this weekend Nicola & Eric get married.

hello 2013… & here’s looking back at you 2012

So the plan was to do a big post on a collection of wonderful moments I’ve caught over the past year. And there has been oh so so many.

I had the images loaded but then changed my mind.

2012 was a year of many highs & probably just as many lows. It’s all about equilibrium right? It was a year of major learning. Learning about my direction, what I can give & to whom I can give it too, what is important & how do I know when I get there.

I am beginning to see my direction, I now know what I can give & to whom I can give it too. I know that good health & the happiness of my wonderfully supportive family, my handful of great friends & my lovely clients who have chosen me over the million bazillion other photographers out there is hugely important. But as it is, I am still working out when, where & how I will get there.

So with no set destination, how do you know that the direction you are traveling in is the right one…

Maybe it’s when strangers time after time become someone special to you. When they open their hearts generously letting you in to share in their moments of excitement, vulnerability & contentment.

So to all my loved ones, couples & familes (past, present & future) I am incredibly grateful to you for showing me the way.

And then there is this kind of wonderfulness… that assures me that I am definitely maybe heading in the right direction…

xx

bundaleer gardens whimsical wedding | hayley & seth

I am so so super excited & honoured to have Hayley & Seth’s Wedding featured on Style Me Pretty Australia today… you can see the post here.

Thank you Style Me Pretty!

I’m not sure what possessed me to rub chocolate wedding cake over my teeth & give Seth a big big chocolate cake teeth coated smile. But I did. Yes I did. It was late, past my bed time & I may very well have been suffering from shutterbug fatigue. But in my defence when you are surrounded by this amount of excitiment & fun it is pretty easy to lose yourself in it.

Hayley & Seth are wild crazy in love. Best friends. And a high fiving kind of team. And their wedding was absolutely a perfect reflection of who they are.

A wonderfully whimsical kind of beautiful.

A few details from Hayley::
Ceremony location: Bundaleer Gardens | Reception location: Bundaleer Gardens | Celebrant: Bianca Neaves  | Wedding Coordinator / Stylist: White + White | Make-up: done by a friend Erin Morris | Hair: Tari at Sublime Hairdressing  | Gown: Karen Willis Holmes | Brides Shoes: Jimmy Choo | Hair piece/fascinator or hat: Karen Willis Holmes and Paddington Weddings | Bridesmaid dresses: TNFC @ Asos | Groom’s suit: The Cloak Room | Groomsmen’s suits: Blaq | Flowers: Brisbane Flower Markets | Stationery: Papette Boutique | Cake: Cake That | Entertainment: PhotoBooth: Kelly Adams Photography | Music: John King aka DJ Jing Kohn | Transport: Bridal Cars – Cars on Demand | Bus for guests – Brisbane Bus Lines | Honeymoon: Booked through Alison Swan of Flight Center Ash Grove – Las Vegas, Mexico, New York
The meeting: We first met when I was in high school. I was friends with Seth’s younger sister Lindsay. I developed a huge crush on Seth which lasted for years and I called him my “pedestal boy”. After not seeing each other for years, Seth off travelling and me studding and travelling as well, I bumped into him working in a bar in the valley. We have been together ever since. That was just over 6 years ago.
Special Memory: Walking up the “aisle”. Even though we were together almost 6 years before getting married, I have never been so excited. Seeing Seth all suited up with a tear in his eye was magical!

Special thanks: All our family and friends who travelled from as far as London, Germany, Sydney and Melbourne, and to those who live locally, it would not have been as special without everyone there!

Advice for other brides & grooms-to-be: Take time to stop and enjoy the day. Look around, appreciate the moment and relax. Everyone will tell you how quickly it goes by and it is so true. Take the time to see your guests, but also make sure you spend some time with your new husband/wife. It is after all, your day!
